Day 1 - Departure from U.S.A.
Today fly from the city of your choice to Copenhagen.
Day 2 - Copenhagen - Malmö, Sweden - Röstånga
From Copenhagen drive across the Öresund bridge to Malmö where you will enter the “Kingdom of Sweden”. Make a stop in Malmö to see the half-timbered buildings before continuing to Lund to visit the 12th Century cathedral. Drive to the village of Röstånga for overnight.
Day 3 - Röstånga - Karlshamn - Kalmar
Continue along the southeast coast of Sweden to Karlshamn, in the province of Blekinge to see the Emigrant Statue. At Kalmar visit 12th Century Kalmar Castle. Drive across Europe’s longest bridge to the island of Öland. Perhaps you would like to visit the castle ruins at Borgholm, the bird sanctuary and lighthouse, or see the Swedish royal family’s summer residence of Solliden. Maybe explore the restored pre-Viking fortress at Eketorp. Overnight at Kalmar.
Day 4 - Kalmar - Orrefors - Kosta-Boda - Eksjö
After breakfast depart Kalmar to visit the famous crystal factories at Orrefors and Kosta-Boda. On the way to Eksjö, see the beautiful 12th Century country church at Dädesjö. At Eksjö, enjoy a leisurely stroll in the old town, much the way it was in the 16th and 17th Centuries. Overnight in Eksjö.
Day 5 - Eksjö - Gränna - Rök Stone - Bergs Locks (Göta Canal) -
Vadstena - Medevi Brunn
Depart Eksjö and continue to the village of Gränna on Lake Vättern. Here you can sample the famous “Polkagrisar” peppermint candies and see crystal figurines created at the Gränna Glassworks. Stop to see the famous runestone at Rök. Perhaps you would also like to make a stop at the Mantorp Glassworks. At Bergs Slussar
(Locks), near Linköping watch the boats navigate the locks on the Göta Canal. Continue to Vadstena to visit the cathedral and former convent of S:t Birgitta (St. Bridget) from the 12th Century. Overnight at Medevi Brunn north of Motala.
Day 6 - Vadstena - Örebro - Mariefred - Stockholm
Venture into the province of Närke to the city of Örebro to visit the old town of Wadköping, which depicts Swedish life as it was in the 18th and 19th Centuries. Continue to the province of Södermanland to visit Gripsholm Castle on Lake Mälaren. Your final destination of the day is the “Venice Of The North”; the capital city of Sweden, Stockholm where you will overnight.
