Day 1 - Saturday, July 10th or Sunday, AUGUST 8th

Today Tour Sweden Tours group departs on our overnight Trans-Atlantic flight from Chicago to Copenhagen, Denmark. Join us from various cities in the USA.

Day 2 - Sunday, July 11th or Monday AUGUST 9th
Arrival in Copenhagen, Denmark

After we arrive midday at Kastrup Airport, we will have a guided tour of "Wonderful Copenhagen." This will include the beautiful "Little Mermaid" statue on the bay by the water. On this tour we will also see Amalienborg Palace, from the outside, the Danish King Frederik's residence and much more.
Copenhagen is an amazing city! Dinner on your own at time of your choice. We will overnight in Copenhagen at a Four-Star Hotel. Free time to visit Tivoli Gardens and amusement park.
Day 3 - Monday, July 12th or Tuesday, AUGUST 10th
Copenhagen - Malmö, Sweden - Lund - Hässleholm - Älmhult

Tour Sweden Tours group departs Copenhagen this morning. We will cross over to Sweden on the remarkable Öresund Bridge(opened in 2000 to Malmö where we enter the “Kingdom of Sweden”.
Thought to have been founded around 1275, Malmö was an important part of the Hanseatic League, was home to one of the world’s largest shipyards and until the 1970’s was an industrial leader. We will spend some time in the Stortorget and Lilla Torget area taking in the half-timbered buildings and open markets.
We then travel to the city of Lund, where more half-timbered buildings from the 16th century blend seamlessly into the modern landscape. We will visit 12th-century Lund Cathedral with its amazing Astronomical Clock from around the year 1424 A.D.. On the way to Hässleholm we will see the grounds and outside of Hovdala Slott. At Hässleholm we will make a shopping stop at the well-stocked 2nd Hand Store run by Pingstkyrkan. Many Swedish gift items to found at bargain prices. Always a popular stop. From Hässleholm, we continue to Älmhult where the international Furniture company IKEA was founded. We will overnight at a Country Inn near Älmhult. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4 - Tuesday, July 13th- or Wednesday, AUGUST 11th
Älmhult - Växjö - Kosta Boda, Målerås - Eksjö - Jönköping

From Älmhult our Tour Sweden Group travels to Växjö to visit the extensive museum at the Emigrant Institute(Utvandrarnas Hus). Between 1840 and 1930 about 1.3 million Swedes emigrated to America and one out of twenty-five Americans living today have Swedish ancestors.

We continue our drive through the forests of Småland to the world renowned “Crystal Kingdom”. We'll enjoy visiting and shopping at the 279 year old crystal factory of Kosta-Boda in the village of Kosta. Then continue on to the famous Målerås Glassworks factory famous for Mats Jonasson etched glass.
From Målerås we drive north, still in the province of Småland, to Eksjö for a walking tour in the charming old town center from the 16th and 17th Centuries, relatively unchanged since that time period. Late afternoon we will continue to Jönköping ,where we will enjoy dinner and overnight at a Four Star Hotel. Tour Sweden Tours has taken you to the southern tip of Lake Vättern, Sweden's second largest lake.
Day 5 - Wednesday, July 14th or Thursday, AUGUST 12th
Jönköping - Habo - Gränna - Ödeshög - Berg Locks (Göta Kanal) - and Stockholm

In the morning, we will visit the Habo Church on the west side of Lake Vättern. This is the most visited country church in Sweden, due to the entire wooden interior being hand-painted with Scenes from the Bible. Continuing on, as we drive along the Eastern shoreline of Lake Vättern (Sweden’s second largest lake) we will make a stop at the town of Gränna, the polkagris (peppermint candy) capital of Sweden.
We will watch the candy being made and will be able to buy from the factory-direct shop at Franssons' Polkagris Fabrik. On the way to Berg we will make a stop at Narr Chocolate factory near Ödeshög and then down the road visit the Rökstenen(Rök Runestone) from the Viking Age). A favorite stop of Mantorp Glasbruk has been discontinued due to the retirement of the owner and closure of the factory.
At the village of Berg near Vreta Koster, we will stop at the Berg Locks(Bergs Slussar) on the Göta Canal to watch the boats navigate the locks on this the largest set of locks along the Canal.

We continue on to Stockholm the capital city of Sweden. Dinner and overnight in Stockholm at Four-Star Hotel.
Day 6 - Thursday, July 15th or Friday, AUGUST 13th

Tour Sweden group enjoys a full day in Stockholm beginning with a guided tour of this beautiful city, also known as "Venice of the North".
We will tour the impressive City Hall(Stadshuset), the famous Wasa Ship Museum(Vasamuseet) and observe the changing of the guard at the Royal Palace(Kungliga Slottet). After lunch on our own in nearby Gamla Stan(Old Town) you can do some more exploring and shopping on your own on the narrow streets of Gamla Stan (Old Town). We'll take a photo op from the heights of Södermalm. One the way to Skansen we will see Embassy Row.

Tour Sweden Tours will provide transportation to visit Skansen Outdoor Museum on your own. Skansen is also known as "Sweden in a Nutshell". Also on your own perhaps visit the Nordiska Museet, the Abba Museum or the Viking Museum. Dinner and overnight in Stockholm again at a Four Star Hotel.

Day 7 - Friday, July 16th or Saturday, AUGUST 14th
Stockholm - Uppsala - Avesta - Sundborn - Rättvik

Our Tour Sweden Tours group heads north into the province of Uppland to the university town of Uppsala to tour the inspiring Uppsala Cathedral. Construction of the cathedral began in the thirteenth century, took more around 150 years to complete, and is the largest cathedral in Scandinavia.
We continue to the tradition-rich province of Dalarna, stopping at Avesta to see the world’s largest Dala Horse, weighing in at 67 tons. In the small village of Sundborn outside of Falun, we will visit the home and studio of beloved artists Carl & Karin Larsson as well as the Sundborn Church.
We will pay a visit to the Sundborn Hembygdsgård before continuing on to Rättvik. Still in Sundborn we will enjoy a typical Swedish dinner and entertainment at the Vicarage(Parsonage) from the 18th century. Overnight in Rättvik.
Day 8 - Saturday, July 17th or Sunday, AUGUST 15th
Rättvik - Nusnäs - Mora - Ekshärad - Sunnemo - Karlstad

Tour Sweden Tours group travels on farther up the road to Nusnäs, where we will witness the genuine Dala horses(Mora Hästar) being made and hand-painted by local craftspeople. We take the short jaunt into Mora to tour Zorngården, the fantastic home of world-renowned artist Anders Zorn. We continue through the forests of the provinces of Dalarna and Värmland to Karlstad on the shores of Lake Vänern(Europe's third largest lake). On the way to Karlstad, we will stop to see the fantastic Iron Crosses at Ekshärad Church. Also we will pay a visit to the Country Church at Sunnemo to learn about Olof Olsson and the large group he took with him to Lindsborg, Kansas in 1869. Dinner and overnight in Karlstad at Four Star Hotel. One point of interest on your own would be to stroll over to the 18th Century stone bridge still being used today.
Day 9 - Sunday, July 18th - Monday, AUGUST 16th
Karlstad - Oslo, Norway

This morning Tour Sweden Tours departs Karlstad and drive west towards the Kingdom of Norway and over the border to Oslo(to check on the Norwegian neighbors), the capital city of Norway.
Upon arrival we will enjoy a delightful guided tour of this 1000 - year old city. Some of the sights we will see include the Kon Tiki Museum(Thor Heyerdahl, the Viking Ship Museum(closed for renovations until November of 2027), The Vigeland statues in Frogner Park. See the view of the city from the Holmenkollen Ski Jump, site of the 1952 Winter Olympics.
Enjoy some relaxing and reflection time in the late afternoon. Dinner cruise tonight on the Oslo Fjord. Overnight in Oslo at at Four Star Hotel.
Day 10 - Monday, July 19th or Tuesday, AUGUST 17th
Oslo - Borgund - Laerdalsøyri

Depart late morning by our own motorcoach, through the valleys, into the mountains, over the high plateau, then to the fjordside village of Laerdal or Laerdalsøyri. All the time taking in fantastic scenery along the way. Before we reach Laerdal we will visit one of the oldest and best-preserved Norwegian Stave Churches at Borgund. In Laerdal, to be enjoyed is is the Old Town of Laerdal with its 18th and 19th Century Wooden Buildings. Also of interest is the Hauge Timber Parish Church. Dinner and overnight at a three-star Hotel.
Day 11 - Tuesday, July 20th or Wednesday, AUGUST 18th
Laerdal - Flåm - "Norway in a Nutshell Fjord Tour - Gudvangen - Stalheim - Voss - Bergen

This morning we drive through the Laerdal Tunnel, one of the longest tunnel in Europe to reach our first stop of the day at Flåm. We are taking the world famous "Norway In A Nutshell" tour as follows, or similar order as needed. the Flåm Mountain Train, ascends 2,900 feet in 12 short miles through breathtaking scenery the the mountain village of Myrdal. Back In Flåm, board the fjord boat to cruise the Aurlandsfjord and the narrowest of fjords, the Nærøyfjord to the village of Gudvangen.
We continue on by bus towards the village of Voss. On the way we pay a visit to the famous Stalheim Hotel Grounds with views of the valley below. Visit their gift shop and perhaps the famous Nazi bunker from World War II. In Voss, we will visit the memorial to the famous Notre Dame coach Knute Rockne. Rockne was born in Voss(Rokne) and emigrated to America with his family when he was five years old. Dinner and overnight at a four star hotel in Bergen.

Day 12 - Wednesday, July 21st or Thursday, August 19th
Bergen, Norway -

We will enjoy a guided tour of this charming city of Bergen, which includes the Hanseatic League Quarter, Bryggen (The Warehouse District), the Fish Markets and sightseeing around town including World War II sites. Dinner and overnight in Bergen at a four-star hotel. Free time to ride the Funicular to the top of the mountain or go back to the Warehouse district for more sightseeing or visit local churches on your own.

Time to pack for your return to the United States or if everything is ready to go, enjoy some free time walking in the Warehouse District. Dinner and overnight again in Bergen at our Four Star Hotel.
